THE MOTHERBOARD

 

































1. BACK PANEL - It is where you are going to connect input and output devices consist of PS2 port, Serial Port, Parallel Printer Port, VGA port, USB Port, Lan Port and Audio Port.




2. 4PIN ATX POWER CONNECTOR - The ATX 4-pin power supply connector is a standard motherboard power connector used to provide +12 vdc to the processor voltage regulator.








3. CAPACITOR
- The capacitor is the container storing electric charge. Its main function is the main board is to store energy, filter and delay, to ensure the stability of power supply to the main board and related accessories, filter out the clutter in the current, and then output the pure current to CPU and Memory and other components.




4. CPU SOCKET or CPU SLOT - This is where your CPU will plug in. The stainless bracket that is surrounding it is used for high end heat sinks. It helps to support the weight of the heat sink.






5. RAM SLOT -
  A memory slot or memory socket allows memory card to be inserted.





6. ATX 24pin Power Port - It is where to insert the power connector to supply power to the motherboard and other parts of the computer system coming from the Power Supply.







7. IDE PORT or PATA PORT - IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) port is known also as PATA (Parallel Advance Technology Attachment) port. Is a standard for connecting parallel HARD DRIVES and CD/DVD ROMs into a computer system.






8. CMOS BATTERY - CMOS (COMPLEMENTARY METAL-OXIDE SEMICONDUCTOR) battery supplies power to BIOS (BASIC INPUT and OUTPUT SYSTEM) firmware which is responsible for booting up computer and helps to retain time and date.




9. FRONT PANEL PORT - These are use to connecting power switch, power led, reset button and HDD led which indicates if it is reading or writing.
